Renee Turner Interiors
Renée Turner came to design through a route that's worth understanding. A former economist in the oil and gas industry, she left that world after discovering that she had not just a talent for interiors but a genuine ability to translate what clients wanted into spaces they fell in love with.
Renée Turner Interiors offers everything from virtual design consultations and single-room refreshes to full bespoke home transformations, kitchens, bathrooms, bespoke furniture and office and boutique hotel design. The practice is personal in the truest sense: Renée doesn't impose a signature aesthetic. She interprets each client's personality and lifestyle and designs from there.
Alongside the established service offer, she was preparing to launch Moodboard by Mail — a physical product sending curated interior design samples directly to customers, making professional design inspiration accessible at a lower price point and reaching a national UK audience.
Two distinct things. One website. One brand. The challenge was to hold both without either undermining the other.
The problem with the existing site
The WordPress site had done its job in the early stages but no longer reflected where the business was or where it was heading. Messaging was thin, the visual presentation lacked consistency across devices and updating anything required external support. Critically, it didn't communicate the depth of Renée's service offer or the warmth of her process — a prospective client landing on the site wouldn't necessarily understand what made working with her different.
The move to Squarespace was driven by a need for genuine independence post-launch: a platform Renée could update, add to and evolve without depending on a developer every time something changed.
The design challenge
Interior design websites share a common trap. The category has developed its own visual shorthand — marble surfaces, muted neutrals, statement lighting photography, confident serif typography — and most sites in the space look broadly similar as a result. That aesthetic signals premium, but it also signals a specific kind of premium: cool, aspirational, slightly distant.
Renée Turner Interiors needed something different. Her strength isn't a recognisable aesthetic — it's the ability to inhabit each client's vision rather than impose her own. Designing a website around a single interior style would have misrepresented what she actually does and attracted the wrong enquiries.
The brief was to communicate something more nuanced: a designer defined by her process and her empathy rather than her look. Warm, knowledgeable, quietly confident. Sophisticated without being intimidating. The kind of presence that makes a prospective client feel they've found exactly the right person rather than an impressive but slightly unapproachable studio.
Balancing two different offers
The structural challenge of the site ran alongside the visual one. Moodboard by Mail needed its own clear home within the site — a distinct product section with fourteen rotating moodboards, each with its own visuals, description and order form — without the product feel bleeding into the bespoke service pages in a way that diluted the premium positioning.
The two sides of the business appeal to different audiences with different budgets and different intent. A prospective client considering a full home transformation and someone browsing a moodboard subscription are on very different journeys when they arrive at the site. Structuring those pathways clearly — so each visitor finds what they're looking for without encountering friction or confusion — became a significant part of the UX thinking.
The navigation was built around those distinct client journeys rather than around the business's internal structure. Services, projects, Moodboard by Mail and booking all have clear routes that work independently without creating a sense of a business that's trying to be two things at once.
The build
The Squarespace site was developed around Renée's existing brand assets — a palette of deep blue, warm gold and soft pink — with visual and typographic decisions made to reinforce the calm elegance of the brand rather than compete with it. The photography leads throughout, which required some care in layout and whitespace decisions to ensure the images had room to do their work.
Key integrations were built in from the outset: Dubsado for enquiry management and CRM, connecting the contact form directly into Renée's existing client workflow. Stripe for Moodboard by Mail transactions. Pinterest-friendly imagery formatting to support her existing marketing activity. Google Analytics and Search Console were configured properly — the previous site had Analytics installed but not used effectively.
SEO foundations were established throughout the build, with Renée actively involved in shaping and refining the copy to ensure the site reflected her voice accurately while being structured for search performance. For a service business where organic discovery is a significant source of new clients, getting that structure right at launch matters considerably.
Ongoing management
Post-launch, Renée has full control over the site — adding projects to the portfolio, publishing blog content and news, updating and rotating Moodboard by Mail listings and managing enquiries through the integrated workflow. The product section was built to be straightforward to update as the fourteen moodboards rotate monthly, without requiring design input each time.
That independence was a core requirement of the brief and shaped platform and template decisions throughout.
What it represents
Renée Turner Interiors now has a website that reflects where the business actually is — not the early-stage version that the old site was still presenting. The service offer is clearly communicated. The new product has its own credible presence. The brand feels cohesive and personal without feeling narrow.
For a designer whose entire value proposition is making clients feel understood and confident throughout a complex process, a website that communicates exactly that — before anyone has made contact — is a meaningful commercial asset.
Words from the client
“Working with Studio Creates on the new website for Renée Turner Interiors has been such a positive experience from start to finish. Sarah and Kirsty have been absolutely amazing to work with and genuinely have such a strong eye for design. They really understood the feel and direction I wanted for my brand and created a website that feels both professional and completely what I wanted and needed.
What I appreciated most was how organised the whole process was. Everything was broken down step-by-step in a way that made it easy to understand, even when it came to things like SEO and website structure, which can feel overwhelming. They helped me completely rethink how my site should flow and how to put the right foundations in place for Google rankings and visibility.
I also love that the site is built on Squarespace because it’s so easy for me to update and manage myself moving forward. The added functionality of the online store has also been an exciting addition for my business.
The results have honestly been incredible already. My SEO has been performing really well and I’ve moved up Google rankings significantly, which is great to see. It feels like the website now not only looks beautiful but is also working properly behind the scenes too.
I’m so grateful to Sarah and Kirsty for all their help, guidance and patience throughout the process. They’ve created a website I’m genuinely proud of and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
