Emma Young Interiors

Emma Young's path to interior design was never straightforward, and that background is part of what makes her work distinctive. By the time Emma left her professional career to pursue design formally, she had accumulated a lifetime of visual and material education that most designers spend years trying to develop.

Emma Young Interiors reflects all of that. The practice specialises in spaces that blend antiques, art, contemporary pieces and carefully curated textiles into something personal, layered and enduring. Not trend-led. Not styled for a showroom. Designed to feel like it belongs to the people who live there.

The problem

Emma had invested in professional brand design with Imogen Eades at IMA Studio and had professional photography to match. What she hadn't yet had was a website that brought those assets together properly. The existing Wix site had been put together quickly, didn't reflect the brand visually and made it genuinely difficult to showcase completed projects, explain the service offer clearly or encourage prospective clients to make contact.

For a design business where the portfolio does the majority of the persuasive work, a website that doesn't present that portfolio well is a significant commercial disadvantage. Emma's work was strong. The digital presence just wasn't keeping up.

Words from the client

I am absolutely delighted with my website. Studio Creates were fantastic to work with from start to finish and really understood the look and feel I wanted to create. Sarah listened carefully to my ideas and used her knowledge and expertise to guide the process and bring everything together beautifully. The end result is a website I am truly proud of and so happy with. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional and thoughtful website designer.

The brief

The site needed to do several things well simultaneously. Present completed projects with the kind of generous, considered layout that lets interior photography breathe. Communicate the service offer clearly across a range of client types and project sizes. Encourage enquiries through a bespoke consultation form. And be straightforward enough for Emma to manage independently — adding new projects, publishing journal content and updating information without needing technical support.

The move from Wix to a more capable and intuitive platform was a core part of the brief. Emma needed independence post-launch, and the platform choice was made to support that from the outset.

The design approach

Emma's branding — developed by Imogen Eades — gave us a strong visual foundation to build from. The website's role was to carry that identity into a digital environment without competing with it, and to create the kind of calm, editorial atmosphere that the interiors themselves inhabit.

Generous image layouts were the primary design priority. Interior photography needs space — cramped layouts and busy backgrounds work against the photography rather than for it. The site was structured to let the images lead, with typography and colour working quietly in support rather than asserting themselves.

The navigation was built around the distinct journeys a visitor might take. Someone wanting to understand Emma's process and service offer moves through a different part of the site from someone exploring the portfolio or considering a specific type of project. Keeping those pathways clear without the site feeling mechanical required care in the information architecture — and avoids the cluttered navigation that undermines many interior design sites at a similar scale.

An editorial journal section gives Emma space to publish content that builds credibility and supports SEO over time — design philosophy, antique finds, project insights, tips for clients navigating renovations. A newsletter sign-up is integrated throughout, giving visitors a low-commitment way to stay connected before they're ready to enquire.

Reflecting a particular kind of designer

One of the more interesting creative considerations on this project was the risk of positioning Emma's work too narrowly. Interior design websites often default to a signature aesthetic — a palette, a mood, a look that communicates a consistent style. Emma's strength lies in the opposite: she reads each client's personality and builds from there, which means her portfolio spans quite different styles and registers.

The site was designed to communicate that quality — the process and the empathy — rather than a single aesthetic. The About page, the service descriptions and the overall tone all reflect a designer defined by how she listens and what she discovers, rather than a look she imposes. That's a subtler thing to communicate than a recognisable style, and it shapes the copy and visual hierarchy throughout the site.

What it delivers

Emma Young Interiors now has a website that reflects the quality and character of the business behind it. The portfolio is presented properly. The services are clearly structured. The journal and newsletter infrastructure gives her the tools to build visibility and engagement over time without requiring a separate platform.

Within a week of launch, key service pages had begun indexing on Google — a good early signal that the SEO foundations were set up correctly. More importantly, Emma now has a platform that feels genuinely aligned with where her business is heading.
