Better experiences start with better questions
Before we decide what something should look like, we need to understand how people need it to work.
User experience thinking is built into every website we design, but more complex digital projects often need us to dig deeper. Through research, workshops, testing and real-world data, we uncover how people actually use your website or digital service. Then turn our findings into clearer journeys, better decisions and experiences that don’t make people think too hard.

UX Audits & Research
Expert review, analytics and user research to understand how your existing digital experience is performing and where opportunities lie.
Your users don't see your website through the same lens you do. And when you've lived with the same content, structure and systems for years, it's surprisingly difficult to see where the problems are.
Studio Creates combines user research, testing and analytics to understand what's really happening — where people get stuck, what they expect to find and what needs to change.

We work with organisations who...
Our UX work supports growing SMEs, charities and organisations, e-commerce and booking businesses, and digital teams working with more complex content, audiences and customer journeys.
Are investing in complex digital projects
Want to improve usability and conversion
Need evidence behind design decisions
Have outgrown their existing website structure
Have multiple audiences to consider
Experience that goes beyond looking good
We've spent more than 20 years working across UX, websites and brand design, helping businesses and organisations turn complicated requirements into digital experiences people can actually use.
That experience means we don't look at research in isolation. We understand what happens next — how findings translate into information architecture, content, design and ultimately something a developer can realistically build.
A little more proof, if you need it:
Research and design considered together
Experience with complex audiences and journeys
Clear findings your team can actually use
Fixed-price packages, no surprises — you'll know exactly what you're paying before we start.
Full visibility from day one — track progress, feedback and files on your own project board throughout.
Questions we get asked about user experience design
-
A UX audit is a structured review of how effectively your website works for the people using it.
We’ll look at areas such as navigation, content structure, user journeys, usability, accessibility considerations and available analytics to identify where people may be getting stuck and where the experience could be improved.
It can be particularly useful if your website has grown over time, serves several different audiences, isn’t converting as expected or you’re planning a redesign and want evidence behind the decisions you make next.
-
We can review an existing website or digital experience to understand what’s working, what isn’t and where there are opportunities to make things clearer and easier to use.
Depending on what we uncover, that might lead to recommendations around navigation, information architecture, content, user journeys, accessibility, wireframes or more detailed user research and testing.
-
It depends on what we need to learn.
We’ll establish the questions the project needs to answer, identify the right audiences and choose appropriate research methods. That could include stakeholder and user interviews, workshops, analytics, card sorting, tree testing, first-click testing or usability testing.
Where research participants are needed, we can work with your organisation to recruit them or help source appropriate users ourselves.
-
We can arrange moderated or remote user testing with people who represent the audiences your website, product or service is designed for.
Rather than asking whether someone likes a website, we'll give participants realistic tasks and observe what actually happens — where they hesitate, what they expect, whether they can find what they need and where the experience causes problems.
We'll then analyse the findings and turn them into practical recommendations for what should happen next.
-
User personas are useful profiles that help teams understand the different people they're designing a website, product or service for — including their needs, behaviours, motivations and priorities.
Where personas form part of our UX work, we prefer them to be grounded in genuine insight rather than assumptions. That might come from user research, analytics, existing customer knowledge, interviews and other available evidence.
Not every project needs personas. Where they will genuinely help your team make better decisions, we'll create them. Where they won't, we won't add them simply because UX projects are expected to have them.
-
Card sorting and tree testing are user-research methods we can use to improve how information is organised and found.
Card sorting helps us understand how users naturally group and label content. We can use those findings to inform your information architecture, navigation and sitemap.
Tree testing then allows us to test a proposed structure without the visual design getting in the way, helping us understand whether users can actually find what they're looking for.
-
This is an important part of our UX work, particularly for websites with lots of content, products, services or different audience groups.
We can audit existing content and navigation, research how users expect information to be grouped and use techniques such as card sorting and tree testing to develop and validate a clearer structure.
The output might include a revised information architecture, sitemap, navigation and recommendations that your internal team, developer or appointed agency can take forward.
-
Absolutely. Our UX service can be completely independent of website design and development.
We can be brought in to research your users, audit an existing experience, test assumptions, develop personas and user journeys, improve information architecture or create wireframes and prototypes, then hand clear findings and recommendations to your internal team, developer or appointed agency.
We can also work collaboratively alongside an existing project team, bringing specialist UX and user-research thinking into a wider digital project.
Website Design
Take what we've learned and turn it into a strategically designed website built around the people actually using it.
E-commerce
For product businesses, we bring UX thinking into everything from navigation and product discovery to purchasing journeys and conversion.
