Align Joinery

Align Joinery came to us without a digital presence. For a bespoke joinery and cabinetry business whose work speaks entirely for itself, that's a gap worth filling carefully. The wrong kind of website — busy, template-heavy, visually competing with the work it's trying to showcase — can do more damage than no website at all.

The brief was to build something clean, minimal and focused. A brochure site that presented the quality of the work, communicated the process clearly and gave prospective clients a straightforward route to getting in touch.

Design decisions

When the work is the point, the design needs to know its place. Every decision made on this project was in service of that principle.

The layout is restrained. Typography is quiet. Nothing on the page competes with the project photography, which carries the weight of communicating what Align Joinery does and how well they do it. Bespoke cabinetry and joinery is a considered purchase — clients want to see craftsmanship, proportion and finish before they make contact. The site is structured to give them exactly that.

The user journey was kept deliberately simple. Understand what the business does. See the work. Get in touch. There's a temptation with first websites to include everything — every service detail, every FAQ, every possible piece of reassurance. Resisting that temptation and keeping the experience focused tends to produce better results, particularly for trade and craft businesses where the portfolio does most of the persuasive work.

Words from the client

Thank you for the amazing website you have built. I was sold on the first consultation I had with Sarah and wanted her to build the website. She has great processes in place that made it straight forward to communicate. Sarah delivered on time and within budget, so its a rating 5 star review from me!

Platform and build

Squarespace was the right platform for this brief. The site needed to be easy for the Align Joinery team to manage independently — adding new project photography as work is completed, keeping the portfolio current without requiring external support each time. Squarespace handles that naturally, and the build was set up with that ongoing use in mind from the start.

The mobile experience received the same attention as desktop. A business like this is likely to be discovered through local search and referral, often on a phone — the site needed to hold up under those conditions as well as it does on a larger screen.

What it reflects

There's a straightforward logic to a site like this. Precision and restraint in the design mirrors the precision and restraint in the work. A joinery business that produces clean, considered cabinetry is well served by a website that applies the same values to its own craft.

Align Joinery now has a digital home that represents them properly — calm, confident and built around the quality of what they make.

We provide a whole variety of trades with their websites.
